Microsoft Exchange. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance. When I open up outlook with cached mode enabled I get the following error: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. Unable to access Public folder via outlook in Exchange 2010 environment “Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange is down for maintenance.” Steps taken? Verified that the Mailbox databases are pointing to correct Public Folder database.

Cannot start Outlook 2013. It refuses to start due to unavailable Microsoft Exchange Server. While all data passed is correct (email at hotmail.com or live.com). Why is that? How to fix it?Some pics:

Try playing with Control Panel -> Mail (Microsoft Outlook 15) settings. You could try to update your profile or delete it and recreate a simple IMAP / POP mail account. After you get that working, you can try adding a ME account.

Seems you're not the only one.

Try this solution.

I had the same problem. Description:I was trying to set an email account on a laptop already part of a domain. The domain is a W2008R2 AD running Exchange 2010. The client is a W7 Pro with Outlook 2010.

The problem arose in both cases:- set that email account using autodiscoveryor- set that email manually as Outlook Anywhere (RPC over https).

I was having no problem at all with the others emails clients, already set on other computers.

SolutionI found out that on the server, the service

Microsoft Exchange Address Book

was not running.

I hope this will help.

Microsoft exchange not available

Outlook includes MailTips, which help you avoid common, but potentially costly or embarrassing, mistakes. MailTips alerts can be triggered by actions including clicking Reply All to a large recipient list, sending sensitive information to someone outside your organization, or sending a message to someone who is out of office.

Note: This feature requires a Microsoft Exchange Server account. For more information see, Determine the version of Microsoft Exchange Server my account connects to.

Change MailTips options, or turn it off/on

By default, MailTips are turned on. To turn them off or back on, or make changes to the options do the following:

  1. Open Outlook and select File > Options > Mail.

  2. Under MailTips, click MailTips options.

  3. Note: The MailTips section does not appear if MailTips are not available for your account.

  4. If you have more than one Exchange Server account in your Outlook profile, click the account in the Apply to this account.

  5. Under Select MailTips to be displayed, check or uncheck the options you want.

  6. Under MailTips bar display option, choose how you want the MailTips to display. For example, if you want to turn it off, select Never display MailTips.
